Green Libraries Week 2023

Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th October 2023 is Libraries Week, the perfect opportunity to support your local library and to celebrate all that libraries have to offer.

Libraries work throughout the year to provide essential services to library goers and  support their communities in a myriad of ways. This year, Libraries Week focuses on climate change and sustainability and what libraries are doing to stay green.

One service open to library users across the UK is Access to Research, which provides free, walk-in access to more than 40 million academic articles. By promoting digital access to research articles, the service reduces the need for printing.

The service empowers the public to access the latest research in a wide range of topics in the arts and sciences straight away, at no cost to the user or the libraries. This Libraries Week 2023, get the latest research in sustainability in your industry and climate change. Access to Research is a tool enthusiasts, professionals, and students can make use of.

Since its inception nearly a decade ago, the service has gone from strength-to-strength and over the coming months the team at PLS will be helping libraries to raise further awareness of this unique and important service. That’s why we’ve created a marketing tool kit for participating libraries and supporters to access the materials they need to help promote the service. You can also watch our Access to Research explainer video to find out more about the service and be sure to visit your local library this week.
