We are delighted to announce that Tom West has been promoted as the first ever Chief Operating Officer at the Publishers Licensing Society. The role has been created as PLS expands its provision of digital services to publishers, most recently the new PLS Permissions offering PLSclear.
With 16 years under his belt at PLS, latterly as Head of Operations, Tom has been central to all developments at PLS in that time and has established himself as an invaluable member of the team. Tom is also a familiar face to many of the 3,620 publishers signed up to PLS and is respected for his thoughtful and helpful guidance on the intricacies of collective licensing.
Amongst his key achievements has been the development and delivery of PLSe, the well appreciated PLS account management service which gives publishers direct control over their participation in collective licensing and which brought about a step change in PLS’ operational capabilities.
He has also had direct oversight of the distribution of over £250 million in licensing revenues to publishers since assuming responsibility for PLS operations in 2008.
Sarah Faulder, Chief Executive of PLS, said: “This is a well deserved promotion for Tom. He has exactly the right qualities and skills to take on the important responsibilities that go with this role at this exciting and critical time in PLS’s evolution, and I am confident that he will enable PLS to deliver ever more diverse services in response to publishers’ needs.”
Tom West added: “The last few years have seen considerable change at PLS as we have developed our digital offering whilst further strengthening an already dedicated, dynamic and service-focused team. I am delighted to take on this role as we broaden our offering and to ensure that PLS continues to deliver the high-quality service that our publishers expect.“
