Elsevier win Publisher Lookup Award for Accessibility

We are delighted to announce that Elsevier has won the first ever JISC Techdis Publisher Lookup Award. The award recognises publishers that have excelled in changing and adapting their business and production processes to meet the accessibility needs of reading impaired customers.

A range of publishers including Sage, Hart Publishing, Palgrave Macmillan and Nature were also highly praised and received plaques in recognition of their work in this area.

Alistair McNaught, senior advisor at JISC TechDis. Alistair said: “Elsevier were selected from a really strong field of candidates. Judges were impressed with Elsevier’s response rates to customer enquiries and their strong, embedded accessibility strategy. Accessibility is a cross-management responsibility at Elsevier and evidently part of the organisational culture. Putting the spotlight on accessibility benefits everyone and now, thanks to the Awards, we’ve created a kind of community of practice where publishers are learning from each other.”

We’d like to thank all those publishers that have contributed to making  both the Lookup Awards a huge success. If you would like further information please go to http://www.techdis.ac.uk/ or contact Alistair McNaught/ Alistair.McNaught@HEACADEMY.AC.UK
